Analysis of an Ad: Chelsea Mejia Figuereo

The speaker of this ad seems to be a company that sells high end perfumes by lower prices. The name brand is called Scentbird. The speaker is trying to get the audience to subscribe to their monthly plan and get fragrances throughout the month. They also try to lure the audience in with a catchy phrase, I get this idea because they have a big logo that says “WE’VE GOT THE HOOK UP”.

They assume that the reader knows English and knows designer brand. It tells the reader that they can ask about them, also making them seem more credible like hey if you don’t believe us you can always verify with our source. But they don’t really give a source or proof that their fragrances are 100% real. They assume that everyone will like their fragrances and that they know about high end phrases.

They also use imagery to show off their product. the image shows that the perfumes are small but also cute and have some sense of style to them. They show different colors such as pink, purple, green and blue. They have different variations for people with different styles.

I don’t find this ad effective due to the fact that it lacks information, it lacks details that will convey the audience to buy the product. The audience does not really have anything to compare this too or any real life information because just because they say that they have connections to designer fragrances it’s true. They aren’t giving reliable information or enough persuasive information.

I agree with your opinion on the effectiveness of the AD. The company isn’t really selling the product, first of all the design is not appealing at all, there just colored perfume bottles with no attention worthy or eye catching designs and the the price that company is selling it for. The brand does claim that they designer brand fragrances so the costumer will be familiar with the scents and brands they are selling for a retail price. The Ad does a poor job in advertising the product, if I were to see this AD I wouldn’t be appealed to it or interested in buying the product. Although the product does have it’s advantages , I feel the Ad was badly advertised by the simplicity of the design and lack of information the company provides about their brand. If the AD was better advertised then it will possibly increase the consumers attention and interest in their product.

I agree with Chelsea analysis on this ad that it was not effective. Another way you could interpret this ad was the speaker trying to persuade people into using his brand of perfumes over well establish perfumes. By adding they have designer fragrance friends for credibility so they can convince the consumer they know what they are doing. This come back to the point chelsa made they show no proof or any credible source to show there history in the fragrance business. Or that they have any kinda relationships with other designer fragrance. Then they don’t even appeal to the consumer feeling/emotion. So this ad failed at hitting pathos, logos, egos making this ad really weak.
